In our historic sanctuary with stained glass windows, ornate chandeliers built by our own members, and wooden pews that date from the building’s original construction in 1925, you’ll find worship that combines reverence for the ancient tradition and a message that is relevant to life in the 21st century. You will enjoy an hour that invites you into thankfulness, reflection, and readiness for whatever you face in the coming week.
Communion is served on the first Sunday of each month. Hearing assistance devices and large-print bulletins and hymnals are available from the ushers. All are welcome!
A new worship service design has been created to allow each person to be able to dig deep in the worship flavor that is most expressive to them and yet remain a church together. To this end, worship will have two different starting times!
At FUMC, we know that there are many ways to praise God, and we strive to create a prayerful worship experience for all ages. A magnificent organ and acoustic guitar, cherished hymns and contemporary songs repurposed for praise. Instrumentalists sharing their gifts with the congregation by playing their brass instruments or the piano. The dedication of our Chancel Choir and congregants who share intimate solos and duets. Every Sunday, we make a conscious decision to praise God by blending well-loved standards and the contemporary.
Children of all ages are welcome in Sunday morning worship service at First United Methodist Church. “A Time for Children” is a special part of worship every Sunday morning. This is an opportunity for children of all ages to come forward to hear and participate in a message specifically meant for them.
Immediately following the children’s time, children are led out of the Sanctuary for nursery or Sunday School.
Directly after worship (at about 11:30 am), coffee, tea and treats are served in the fellowship hall called the Terrace Room. How to get there is announced each Sunday morning during the service. To find out more about the church, you can chat with folks there or look through and take information about programs and service that are in the display racks in the Terrace Room hallway.
