Our youth group here at First United Methodist Church is diverse, energetic, and always welcoming. Yet, some people find it difficult to connect with teenagers. That's why we're here. We love working with youth! However, we can't do it all ourselves. Youth are part of a greater congregation and community that loves and supports them. If you are interested in supporting our youth group, but just don't know how, here is a short list of easy ways that YOU can support the church's ministry to teens.
- Volunteer to bring lunch one Sunday afternoon for youth group. You can order pizza or sandwiches or you can make a good 'ol home cooked meal. Either way, the youth will love it! And we'd love to have you eat with us.
- Make a donation. $40 will buy a fun, sturdy chair for the youth room. $30 will buy Jamba Juice or Starbucks for our youth on a Sunday morning. $15 will buy a new CD for the youth room. Christian music comes in a variety of genres and its great when youth can hear they kind of music they like with a Christian message.
- Donate individual $5 gift cards for iTunes, Best Buy, Jamba Juice, Starbucks, Borders, etc. that can be given out to celebrate birthdays and as prizes for games.
- Do you have a talent or a special interest? Knitting, martial arts, dance, watercolor, history, meditation? Perhaps you'd like to share that at youth group.
- Say "Hi" to a youth when see them at church. Ask them how they're doing and try and follow up with them the next Sunday.
Youth ministry isn't just OUR job. It's the calling of this entire church family, so let's make this a welcoming and supportive place where teens can grow and learn what it means to live as Christians.
Peace & Blessings,
-Aaron, Meghan, and Emily
