Rev. Rod Brayfindley has served four other churches in his career. He is a frequent speaker at church events throughout the Western USA and is author of the adult spiritual curriculum The Awed Life as well as many songs sung in churches, collected in Songs for the Awed Life. Rod earned a Masters in Divinity from SMU Perkins School of Theology and received the B’nai B’rith Harold M. Kaufman Award in Social Ethics upon graduation.
Originally from Santa Cruz California, Tony relocated to Sacramento from San Francisco in 2011. With a degree/ background in Theater arts, Tony is thrilled to be stepping into his newest role as the Director of Youth Ministries at First United Methodist in downtown Sacramento. Starting in his teens, Tony has worked with youth of all ages in a number of different facets from voice lessons to physical therapy for children with special needs.
Elika Bernard has been living in the Sacramento region for over twenty years. She studied Communications, Sociology and Music at Sacramento City College. She then went on to study journalism and music at William Jessup University. There she earned a B.A. in English and a minor in music. After finishing school she worked as a News Apprentice at CBS 13 News and graduated from the Rock of Roseville Chaplain Academy. She loves teaching Children’s choir and painting.
Jen Banghart, our new Administrative Assistant has been a member of First Church for five years. She has been very active in many programs and ministries with First UMC such as Staging A Miracle, Joyful Movement, and most recently Director of Young People’s Ministries. Jen is excited to take on the role of Administrative Assistant, and brings with her 20+ years of experience in various administrative and executive level positions including corporate training and development, project management, benefits administration and payroll.
