How You Can Help the Community
Mission & Service
Truly I tell you, just as you did it to one of the least of these who are members of my family, you did it to me. Matthew 25:40
As a vibrant, fruitful, and growing congregation we practice Risk-Taking Mission and Service. Risk-Taking Mission and Service includes projects, efforts, and work people do to make a positive difference in the lives of others for the purposes of Christ, whether or not they will ever be part of the community of faith.
What does “risk-taking” mean for us? It means:
- We push beyond ordinary service and everyday missions to offer extraordinary opportunities for life-changing engagements with people.
- We step into greater uncertainty, a higher possibility of discomfort, resistance, or sacrifice.
- We go into ministries that push us out of our comfort zone, stretching us beyond the circle of relationships and practices that routinely define our faith commitments.
We raise money to support work, organize teams, solicit and train volunteers, and send people to work directly in hands-on, face-to-face ministries. We value contact, engagement, and long-term relationships, and we measure the impact of our work in lives changed rather than in money sent or buildings constructed. We don’t stop at reading about the global church, we globalize our own ministry by forming partnerships with sister churches, supporting international exchanges and sharing common prayers. We give people multiple opportunities to serve in meaningful ways.
