Staging A Miracle Mission and Vision

Vision Statement:  Staging a Miracle is a beacon of hope and opportunity enriching underserved families of Sacramento by offering a quality arts experience to enable and inspire each individual to lead a successful life of choice, purpose and service.

Mission Statement: Staging A Miracle, a program of the First United Methodist Church of Sacramento, brings our diverse church community and economically disadvantaged/underserved families of Sacramento together in a safe and nurturing environment to support the creative gifts and well being of our children and youth. In collaboration with community artists and art organizations, Staging A Miracle helps participants discover and develop their talents in music, dance, drama, writing and visual arts.

Values Statements:  The board, staff, and volunteers of Staging A Miracle believe that:

  • There is a great need to serve economically disadvantaged families and we are honored to do so.
  • Every person who comes through our doors is welcome and treated with dignity and respect. 
  • Members of these families may need additional mentoring, support, and guidance.
  • Many of these families are primarily focused on meeting day-to-day needs and many things that we take for granted may be luxuries for them.
  • Many of these families have little time or resources available to lead balanced lives, nurturing themselves and each other.
  • By providing families with a quality arts experience, all participants learn valuable life lessons and families become more involved in their community.
  • The experience also enriches the lives of those who volunteer and encourages them to give of their time, energies, and talents.
  • While we primarily serve families with low incomes all members of the community are welcome. 

Goals:  Goals supporting this mission are listed below:

Goal #1:  To be a significant Sacramento cultural and social services asset.

Goal #2:  To showcase original works of art created by participants of SAM.

Goal #3:  To encourage and develop the participants’ talents and character to the maximum extent possible.

Goal #4:  To develop a sense of support and community for the families by providing meals, transportation, and other support.

Goal #5:  To encourage the full participation and support of the First United Methodist Church of Sacramento.

Goal #6:  To develop a base of volunteers who will help support Staging A Miracle.

Goal #7:  To work towards a long-term goal of providing a year-round quality arts experience for families living in poverty.
